Lithuania dodges double-dip recession

  • Economy expands 1.2% q/q in Q4
  • In 2020 economy shrinks only 0.9%

Lithuanian economy defied expectations yet again. Despite spending most of the quarter under restrictions to economic activity, Lithuania managed to achieve quarterly economic growth. Relatively unrestricted sectors – information and professional services, industry – were the main drivers of growth. Interestingly, despite quarantine measures, consumption increased. 

Lithuanian economy showed incredible resilience in the face of the pandemic shock. Balanced economy, favourable structure, and successful fiscal policy meant that Lithuania was among the top performers in 2020
