Ending the decade on high note
- Lithuanian GDP expanded 3.9% in 2019
- A very strong final quarter. Economy grew 1.3% in quarterly terms (season and calendar adjusted)
- This year and decade growth will be slower
Defying all expectations Lithuanian growth accelerated to 3.9% up form 3.6% in 2018. It seems that European and global slowdown had little effect on growth. While export data has been volatile in the second half of the year it seems that both external and internal demand contributed to so solid expansion. A very active housing market and high capacity utilization indicates solid investment activity. Both structural factors and still laggard global demand should slow Lithuanian growth down in the next several years.
